On November 10–11, 2025, during the 48th session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the Kazakh delegation, led by Erlan Kiyasov, Chairman of the National Expertise Center, actively participated in discussions on new directions for international food standardization.
The Kazakh delegation included the national coordinator for the Codex Alimentarius structure, N.M. Karsybekova; contact person Z.T. Tolyssbayeva; and national expert, Professor G.S. Konuspaeva, who provided scientific comments on key aspects of the project.
Special attention was given to the proposal by the United Arab Emirates to develop an international standard for pasteurized camel milk. The Kazakh delegation held a series of working meetings and provided expert clarifications on the technical aspects of the project. Despite the existing standard for powdered milk and cream (CXS 207-1999), the initiative envisions the creation of a separate standard for this unique type of milk.
Kazakhstan, being one of the countries producing and exporting camel milk, expressed strong support for the Commission’s new work on developing a Codex standard for pasteurized camel milk.
Kazakhstan’s support was recognized alongside the positions of countries from Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, marking an important step in advancing the initiative toward international standard status.
Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its role in the development of global food safety standards and in promoting domestic products to the international market.
